Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Deacon Ministry (Not pictured: Dea. George Rountree)

The Deacon Ministry at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is the only other Ministry that is “ordained†at the church. This means that the Ordained Reverends and Deacons should be the only ones that serve communion to the members of God’s family. Deacons are to be servants. Our duties and responsibilities are written in Acts 6:2-3; “Than the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this businessâ€. The services that the Deacons are charged to do also includes praying for all members of the church, visiting the sick and shut-in, being available to family members during times of bereavement and providing Spiritual counseling whenever needed or whenever called upon. The Deacon accepts the lifelong commitment to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the local church.
